Bigger than Business

Celebrating 10 Years as a 1% for the Planet partner.

“We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors—we borrow it from our children.”

- Chief Seattle

Experience Momentum is celebrating our 10-year anniversary of being a partner of 1% for the Planet, a nonprofit whose mission is to "build, support, and activate an alliance of businesses and individuals financially committed to creating a healthy planet." This has been such a pivotal moment for our company as we believe that we are part of something bigger, and that we owe it to ourselves, our community, and future generations to treat our world with care. For this reason, Experience Momentum has donated 1% of every single transaction, from each customer to an environmental nonprofit for the last 10 years to help take care of our planet, and we have no intention of stopping. We believe it is the least we can do as Planet Earth is the largest stakeholder in all our lives.

Connections that we have made and continue to make being a 1% for the Planet partner allow us to do more for our world than we could alone. There are currently 5,400 member companies in 110+ countries giving 1% of sales to greater than 6,500 nonprofits, since 2002 these companies have given over $530 million dollars.

Just last week, one of our awesome team members and I represented Experience Momentum at the 1% for the Planet Global Summit in New York City where we were able to be this year's Wellness Sponsor. It was an opportunity to come together to hear from industries across the globe on what issues they are facing and what they are doing to create more sustainable businesses that are good for the planet. There were some great presentations on: Prioritizing Mental Health in the Climate Crisis, Taking the Outdoorist Oath, Using Your Business to Advocate for Conservation, and the Future of the Responsible Company. As I sat listening and discussing with folks from all over the business map, one presentation stood out to me. Dr. Ayana Elizabeth Johnson has a Ted Talk entitled ‘How to Find Joy in Climate Action’; I encourage you to take the 10 minutes to watch her speak now. Dr. Johnson is clear we need to take action collectively and paints a picture of where to begin in an inspiring way.

My key takeaways from this Global Summit are; we are all in this together, we need to slow down, and take intentional action to positively impact our one earth. When addressing the source of health, it is important to note that the planet we inhabit is solely responsible for providing us with our physical needs; notably, air to breathe, water to drink, and food to eat. At Experience Momentum, we believe that in order for our bodies to function at their best we must be surrounded by an environment that is healthy and thriving and we invite you to join the movement. Support your local environmental nonprofits, support businesses that carry the 1% for the Planet Logo, volunteer in your community, and vote for leaders who are prioritizing our planet. We are better together, let’s do this!

If you or someone you know is a business owner who is interested in learning more about what it means to be a 1% for the Planet partner and what the process looks like, I would love to connect, and help be a resource for you, just reach out here or on our general contact us form
