Inspiration of the Month - Josh!

Experience Momentum | Inspiration of the Month, | July 01, 2018

It is a tradition of our organization to spotlight a client and their journey each month in our newsletter. This month we are pleased to introduce you to Josh.

Tell us about you and what motivates you:

"I am a dad, a husband, a public servant and a community volunteer.  My two daughters are my motivational force while also serving me humble j.-mcclure-1.jpgpie on a daily basis.  Don't get me wrong, my wife is amazing but once you have had your driving habits mocked by a ten-year old you realize where the universe is centered."

What has your experience been like working with us at Experience Momentum?

"I was first referred to EM in 2014 by a coworker after my attempt to score from 1st failed.  I maintain I was safe.  In either case the staff at EM has always taken the time and effort to not only understand the injury but also what my goals were for getting better.  You get what you give on the PT side and being made to run an obstacle course...4 times...before I was cleared to return work is just one example.  On the fitness side, the group of instructors never stand over you and yell, but instead stand next to you and truly coach.  They ask, they listen, they adjust and when you aren't expecting it, they push you and you achieve something you did not see coming.  Sometimes that's vomit but I may be getting off the rails here."

What obstacles have you overcome in working towards your health and fitness goals?

"Nearly two years ago my "sore shoulder" ended up being two herniated discs in my neck.  Many sessions of PT and a surgery consult later I was told that being more active could alleviate many of the symptoms.  Pre-existing injuries from work and weekend warrior athletics (again, I was safe) continually creep into my mind when working outside of my comfort zone.  It has been difficult to find a good balance of pushing myself (or getting pushed) so that being uncomfortable became comfortable and also staying physically healthy enough to be able to work without restriction.  Oh and also when I do yoga classes, I fall over... a lot."

j.-mcclure-2.jpgExperience Momentum will donate $250 in Josh's name to the 1% For the Planet non-profit organization of his choice. What charity did you choose to give your winnings to, and why?

"We chose Oceans Initiative because my daughters saw a whale in the logo and I know when not to pick a fight."

A fun fact about yourself:

"I have a closet (and now public) desire to do stand-up comedy.  I'm terrified of being booed off the stage by strangers and probably my wife, because I'm guessing she'll be there too."

Your favorite quote:

"I'll be in the car." -My wife.
