Sweat for the Environment 2026
Why This Event Means So Much to Me
Some of my earliest memories are outside.
Hunting with my dad. Working on the farm with my grandpa. Climbing trees. Roaming the woods with my brother and cousins until the day slipped away.
Nature was never just scenery to me. It was where I felt free. Grounded. Alive. It shaped me long before I had words for that connection. And that connection has never left.
Even now, there is something in me that softens when I am outside. And there is something in me that aches when I see open land cleared, old trees cut down, and wild places turned into another row of condos. My heart physically hurts when I see the natural world taken for granted.
Many effects of climate change are happening faster than predicted and our action to help the environment is needed more than ever. While this may seem daunting, each one of us has the power to create the world we, and our children, want to live in. We can harness that love for the outdoors and create meaningful action through small everyday decisions and collective action.
Over the years, I have tried to turn that love into action in the ways I can. On our property, we have planted more than 50 fruit trees. We have added native plants and shrubs to support the local environment. It is meaningful work, but I also know it is only one small piece of a much bigger picture. That is one of the reasons I am so grateful Experience Momentum is a 1% for the Planet partner, a Certified B Corp, and The Climate Neutral certified.
To date, Experience Momentum has donated almost $500,000 to 1% for the Planet.
We get to support incredible nonprofits dedicating their lives to protecting and restoring the world around us—from sustainable agriculture, to developing environmental leaders, to improving waterways for salmon, to expanding access to and support for our national parks, and so much more.
That is also why Sweat for the Environment is one of my favorite events of the year. This event brings together two things I care deeply about: the health of our bodies and the health of our planet. They are intricately connected.
The air we breathe.
The water we drink.
The food we eat.
The places we go to restore, explore, and reconnect.
Our health does not exist separate from the environment. It depends on it.
And yet, in the rush of everyday life, it can be easy to forget that. Sweat for the Environment is our way of reconnecting those dots.
So what is Sweat for the Environment?
Sweat for the Environment is Experience Momentum’s annual fitness competition where people come together to move with purpose, raise awareness, and support incredible local environmental nonprofits doing hands-on work to protect our planet.
This isn’t just a competition; it’s a celebration of strength, community, and environmental impact.
Every year, we invite Washington-based environmental nonprofits to Sweat for the Environment. They get to be present at the event, speak to their mission, and receive donations towards their organization’s cause. Competition winners get to donate their winnings to their chosen nonprofits in attendance. This year, the top three teams in each division will help allocate $12,000 in donations from Experience Momentum to their chosen nonprofit.
What I love most is that this event shines a light on people and organizations doing extraordinary work every single day. It creates awareness. It builds connection. It turns effort into impact. And honestly, it makes my heart hurt a little less. Because while none of us can do everything, we can all do something.
We can move our bodies.
We can gather in community.
We can support people doing important work.
We can align our health with something bigger than ourselves.
Maybe that is why this event feels so special to me, it takes something I have loved since childhood and turns it into collective action.
If this speaks to you, I hope you will join us.
Come sweat for something bigger.
Come support organizations making a real difference.
Come be part of a community that believes human health and planetary health belong together.
